Sadly Elizabeth Gregory did not live very long. She died on 11th April 1877 aged just 7 months. Her father was called James Gregory.

​

Of her five brothers, three of them became well known in Halifax as grocers, tea merchants, tallow merchants and hop sellers. They were also involved in banking, the Town Council, aldermen and landowners. All children were baptised at Square Chapel and several went on to marry at Halifax Parish Church.

​

Her father James Crosley, a greengrocer, married his wife Elizabeth Ann Reynolds (1763-1830) at St Pancras Church, London on 6th July 1785. She was the daughter of Samuel and Ann Reynolds and was baptised 20th February 1763 .

There were seven children in the family - Richard Reynolds (1788), James William (1789), Thomas  (1793) Robert (1795), Edward (1796), Elizabeth (1798) and Harriet (1802).

Harriet Gregory was born on 12th April, baptised at Square Chapel on the 14th May 1802. She married 21 year old Dan Robinson on 3rd June 1819 at St John’s, Halifax at the age of 17.

Robert Gregory was born 9th March 1795, baptised at Square Chapel on the 31st March 1795. He is not to be confused with Robert Gregory, Veterinary of Northgate Halifax who died at the age of 32.

Edward Gregory was born 13th December 1796 and baptised at Square Chapel on 2nd January 1797.

​

Richard Reynolds was born 1788, baptised at Square Chapel 18th March 1788; he married Sarah Howarth form Elland at St Johns, Halifax in 1824.

​

 

James William was born 1789, baptised at Square Chapel on 2nd October 1789, and married Ann from Birstwith who was over 20 years younger than himself.

​

Thomas was born  25th March 1793, baptised at Square Chapel 9th April 1793; he married for the second time Francis Hawkins in 1859.​
